Mercy Health Center was recently awarded a $2,000 grant by the Plum Creek Foundation. The grant funds contributed to the purchase of Mercy’s Digital Panoramic X-Ray machine, which will allow for immediate image preview and for dental x-ray examinations that capture the entire mouth in a single image.
Since moving to its new facility, Mercy Health Center has increased its number of dental appointments by 17% and serves approximately 80 dental patients per month. Mercy Health Center, which serves over 2,000 persons who are uninsured from six surrounding counties, offers a plethora of whole-person care services which include: primary care, 15 different specialties, pharmacy and pharmacy counseling, dental services, health education, nutrition and exercise services, spiritual care, behavioral health, and social services.
Tracy Thompson, Executive Director of Mercy Health Center, values the long-standing generosity of the Plum Creek Foundation. She stated, “Plum Creek has been a wonderful partner with Mercy Health Center for many years. Their commitment has allowed us to bring quality healthcare to the uninsured in our community. ”
With the addition of a Digital Panoramic X-ray machine, Mercy Health Center’s volunteer dentists will be able to use this essential diagnostic tool to inform treatment plans and to provide quality, technologically-advanced dental care to an increased number of dental patients.
