Mercy Health, Interfaith Hospitality Network receive Jackson EMC grants

Mercy Health Center in Athens, a volunteer-based nonprofit that provides no-cost medical, pharmaceutical and dental care, has been awarded an $8,400 grant by the Jackson EMC Foundation to develop a volunteer command center and training program. Above left, Mercy Health director Paul Buczynsky and executive director Tracy Thompson receive the grant from Jackson EMC Foundation board member Johnny Fowler. The Interfaith Hospitality Network of Athens, a coalition of 14 area churches and communities of faith, has been awarded a $5,000 grant by the Jackson EMC Foundation to provide childcare and cover the emergency medical expenses of the homeless families served by the network. Interfaith Hospitality volunteers Christine Lo and Beverly Brantley, above right, join executive director Tephra Fields in accepting the grant from Fowler.
